ADULT SUNDAY MORNING DISCIPLESHIP

FALL 2026

Make the Most of Your Sunday Mornings!

Our Sunday Discipleship class(es), taking place from 9:30-10:15AM, are a great way to grow deeper in your faith and connect with others.

We’d love for you to experience BOTH worship and discipleship each Sunday. If you attend the 8:15AM worship service, we invite you to stay for our Discipleship Class. If you usually come for the 10:30AM worship service, consider arriving early to join the Discipleship Class - it’s a meaningful time of learning, discussion, and spiritual growth before or after gathering for worship.

Let’s grow together—spiritually and relationally—through worship and discipleship!

FALL : September 13-December 13, 2026

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS BY C.S. LEWIS

The first American edition of C.S. Lewis’s, The Screwtape Letters was published in 1944.

Even to this day, this extraordinary little book is a startling, unique, and powerful presentation of the age-old problem of the continuous battle for the soul of man between the crafty forces of evil and the triumphant forces of good.

The book consists of a series of 31 letters written by Screwtape (an important official in his Satanic Majesty’s “Lowerarchy”) to Wormwood, his nephew, who is a junior devil on earth. The letters contain instructions in temptation as to how to corrupt the faith of Wormwood’s “patient,” who is in danger of becoming a Christian.

C.S. Lewis writes with humor and on every page reveals a deep understanding of humanity’s spiritual struggle on this earth. In his book, Lewis shows us that evil is rarely dramatic or loud; instead, it works through small, ordinary habits, subtle pride, and daily distractions that slowly pull people away from spiritual truth.

Paperback books will be provided if you do not have one. There is NO homework for this class. Each letter/chapter will be read in class. Since each letter/chapter is independent of the others, it is not a problem if you need to miss one or more classes.

JOB

Job had it all. Job is a man who was blameless and upright. Job feared God and shunned evil. Yet, Job loses so much. He suffers so much.

The Book of Job teaches us that pain and suffering do not always mean God is punishing you. It shows that bad things do happen to good people, it is okay to be honest with God in your pain and about your grief and human wisdom is always limited compared to God's plan and design for our lives.

The book of Job helps us to understand, and to live out, the reality that God is worthy of our love even apart from the many blessings he gives to us.  God may, at times, allow suffering as a means of purifying and strengthening our faith. God’s thoughts and ways are motivated by considerations too great for the minds of humanity to comprehend.

Handouts will be provided each week.
